Ordinary Days.

August 4, 2020
Day 1,396

Today was supposed to be rainy. We had plans to be lazy and watch Harry Potter movies all day. But it was a blue sky, sun shining, beautiful day outside. We did some cleaning. I planted some flowers and rearraged plants on our deck. The kids cleaned their rooms. Matt did all the laundry. I vacuumed. It was Higbee's 5th birthday, so Adelyn made him a little cake and we sang, "Happy Birthday." We gave him two new toys and a bully stick to chew. He was very happy and played with his new toy for a long, long time. We had tacos for dinner. I'm obsessed with tacos. I made cookie bars for Matt. Matt, Adelyn, and I watched the last Harry Potter movie together. Tobin wasn't ready for the last two movies. It's okay. He's still very much a little boy. I'm not in any hurry for him to grow up quickly. We had ice cream with cookie bars for dessert. The sunset was pretty. There were lots of pretty colors in the sky. Matt and I walked Higbee together down the driveway. We love to walk together.

This day was a Tuesday. It was ordinary. There was nothing particularly special about it. But the ordinary days are the days that mean the most. They make up the majority of our time. Special days and holidays stand out, yes. But the ordinary days are what makes us who we are. So if we spend our ordinary days enjoying the company of our family, making our home beautiful, having fun, laughing, and loving on each other, we will become people who are happy, whole, joyful, and loving.

     Thankful for ordinary days.
