Home Sweet Home

Project 365 * 2 -- Day 240

I am always just as excited to return home as I am to go on vacation in the first place. Like, excited. Really excited to be home. There's just something about home. Tonight, as I picked up toys, and washed the dishes, and waited for water to boil for my tea, I felt happy and peaceful and safe and thankful. Happy to be home. Peaceful thinking about the crashing waves, and the sand, and the wild horses, and the brisk wind paired with the warm sun, and the way the sand feels cool at night, and the infinite amount of stars you can see at the beach at night. Safe because we had a safe trip. And thankful because I just got to spend an entire week with all the great loves of my life.

Thankful. So thankful for a truly splendid vacation. And thankful to have returned home. It's always awesome to get away. But, it's just as awesome, if not more so, to return home. Home. I love that word. One of my favorites.

Adelyn had an outfit change after we put her to bed.

She tucked her babies in with her.

There's always a last day...

Project 365 * 2 -- Day 239

That's what my dad said to me this morning when I said with a sigh, "it's the last day." "Yep, there's always a last day." It was the last day, but we made it a good one. It was the perfect last day. Fabulous weather. Beautiful day at the beach. Fun in the pool. Beer, and good food. Wild horses to watch from our front porch. It was a lovely way to end our vacation. It couldn't have been any better.

Thankful for the beautiful sunrise this morning. Thankful for a wonderful week with my loved ones. Thankful for the sand and the waves. Thankful for memories made.

I have to hurry up, because we're all watching a movie together...

Project 365 * 2 -- Day 238

Another fabulous day at the beach. The wind was perfect. The sky was perfect. The sand was sandy. The water was cool. And the sun was warm. I'm loving these days at the beach. And the nights at the beach are just as good. Games, movies, beers on the deck, music. Life has been very sweet here.

Thankful for a beautiful day. These are the kind of days you wish you could live over and over.

It's a good thing I'm married to a firefighter.

Project  365 * 2 -- Day 237

We had an adventure tonight. A fire! We were all sitting down to dinner when we heard the smoke detector going off. We ran downstairs, and the dryer here in the house had caught on fire. Luckily, there were some fire extinguishers handy, and the fire was gone in no time. Even though it was small, it made me sick. I was worked up for some time thinking about what could have been if we had set the dryer, and left for the beach. Roxy and Dixie are here with us, and they stay at the house when we go to the beach during the day.

Tonight, I am thankful that my family, including our dogs, are safe and sound. I'm thankful that we were here when the fire started. I'm thankful that Matt is a firefighter. I'm thankful that after the fire, we could all calm down with a lovely steak dinner, and beer, and a board game. And laughter. The kind that makes your cheeks and stomach hurt. I'm thankful for another beautiful and relaxing day at the beach. And I'm thankful for the ones I love.

Let's go fly a kite, and watch the wild horses play on beach.

Project 365 * 2  -- Day 237

Another perfect, beautiful day. After dinner, everyone went out to fly kites. While we were out flying kites, we walked down the beach to see the wild horses standing in the surf. It was beautiful and amazing and peaceful. If I didn't have kids to put to bed, I would have stayed there all night. Following them down the beach.

Thankful for another long day at the beach. Thankful for kites. And wild horses. Thankful for time with my family. Thankful that these days have been so good. So. Good.
