The Sweetest Silence

Project 365 * 4
Day 468

So, lately, when all four kids are together, it is crazy loud. Like, you can't even hear yourself think loud. They all just scream. The whole time they're together. They scream when they're happy, sad, upset, mad, hungry... It's constant. And it's loud. And it makes us all just a wee bit crazy sometimes.

After dinner tonight, Patty and I decided to give the kids a special treat. Ice cream, chocolate syrup, and whipped cream for dessert. They were all literally screaming at the top of their lungs while we were dishing out the ice cream. It was mayhem. As soon as we sat the bowls of ice cream in front of them, the room got quiet. Completely silent. And boy, was it was sweet. The silence and the ice cream. I think it was Casey who broke the silence first. He said, "mmmm, this is the best." I agree, Casey. I agree.

Thankful for our sweet dessert. Thankful for our sweet ten minutes of silence. Thankful for the loud screaming. It means our kids are happy and healthy. Thankful for faces and hands sticky from chocolate and ice cream. Thankful for a good day with the kids. They make everyday an adventure.
